Get To Know Amanda!

I'm so glad to meet you here!

Let me tell you a little about myself.

I grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest in a family that celebrated my love of movement. I was lucky to have plenty of time and space to play. My mom put me in gymnastics classes at age 5, and I excelled in the sport. It felt 100% natural. I loved the feeling of freedom, dancing on the beam, swinging around the uneven bars, and somersaulting through the air.

At age 11, shortly after my parents announced their divorce, I landed from a front flip with hyperextended legs (both legs were bent “backwards”). Both knees fractured upon impact and I needed to wear casts for months. I stopped doing gymnastics and decided to channel my energy into being an 'A+' student instead. In retrospect, I see that I chose a path that felt more stable at a time when my world was falling apart.

I discovered that I could excel in the academic realm as well, and school provided a structure and grounding to life that I needed. College led me to stable jobs that are done at a desk.

Hello!

At 27, while working at a desk job where I felt highly valued and respected, I was called to a career in fitness. I became a Personal Trainer so I could share my passion for movement with others, and I added in massage a few years later so that I can make an even greater impact on my clients’ health.

My path has not been linear – it’s been more helical, like a strand of DNA. During COVID, I was earning my MBA at Portland State University. The MBA led me to a job as a Small Business Coach at a wonderful non-profit (mostly a desk job). Though I am glad I can sit for long periods of time, something feels missing when my work is all done in front of a computer screen.

Today I offer my wellness services as a business owner, which is a way to combine a wide array of skills I have learned. Growing my own business and doing hands-on work with clients is a dream come true. I also continue to offer business coaching for other entrepreneurs, which you can learn more about here.

I have great empathy for those with chronic health conditions and people who are healing from injuries, and I love supporting others as they connect with their bodies to experience both the joy of freedom and the comfort of protection.

It is widely accepted that massage offers many physical benefits including a better quality of sleep, decreased joint inflammation, and an increased immune response.

Exercise improves our functioning on a cellular level (for example, it has been linked to improved repair of damaged DNA).

Massage is known to decrease stress levels and increase feelings of wellness.

Exercise increases our immune function which helps us fight off sicknesses and heal wounds more quickly.
